Well Known Sayings- Not the Truth

Have you ever heard any of these sayings from well-meaning Christians?

"I'm just a worm compared to God."

"I'm a sinner."

"I'm nothing in the light of who God is."

"I must decrease so He may increase."

These phrases can be quite common in certain areas of Christianity - certainly the types of Christianity I've been exposed to seem to have them not just as throwaway statements but as core underlying doctrines!

But they aren't really true!

We are not sinners, we are saints!

We are not worms - we are sons and daughters of God.

We are not nothing in the light of who God is... we have become the very light of God on this Earth!

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!

II Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"  WOW... That means that we do not posses or claim that stinking rotten flesh any longer, but rather we have been transformed into Children of the Most High God.  Romans 8: 17 says, "Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory."

We are the image and likeness of God... there is nothing that has or ever will exist that looks more like God than you.

That thing you see in the mirror every day, is the best physical representation of God there has ever been.

Humanity is God's best idea.

We know this because God became human in the person of Jesus and in no way, shape or form became anything less than 100% God!

We often hear people talking about how we must be careful not to steal God's glory... we must decrease so He can increase.

But this is a very flawed notion too. Yes, John the Baptist had to stop gathering people to him in the Jordan River so they might follow Jesus instead. But that doesn't mean we repackage his terminology and build a doctrine of self around it.

2024 New Year Prophesy

Happy New Year! Our hope is not in the new year, but in the One Who makes all things new!! These are great times of transition in the Body...
